 Wine is a subjective subject, What YOU prefer is most important, find a wine profile you enjoy. Analyzing wine is a Skill that requires a combination of technique and experience. The more you do it, the better you become at analyzing what you taste. Here are some things to consider when tasting wine:
Color Use a white background and hold the wine glass in front to observe the true color of each wine. Colors tell you many things White Wines a. The Grape Varietal b. The Age of the Wine Lighter = Older (look at the edges) Swirl When you swirl the wine it aerates and releases the bouquet of the wine. Remember it has been sealed in a bottle for a long time. Smell The Nose (describes the bouquet and aromas) Just think and make an association with the world around you. What do you smell every day, the list below may help. Approximately 80% of what you taste comes from smell. Taste Tasting wine is just that, take a small amount of wine in your mouth, swish it around like mouth wash and spit it out.
